Rostrum is an Australian organisation made up of small clubs situated throughout the country. Members help each other to increase their confidence and improve their speaking skills in a warm, friendly and co-operative environment.

Members learn through the most effective method of acquiring skill, that is, by practicing under the guidance of a coach or mentor. Members may follow a structured program made up of a set number of exercises, or they may choose areas in which they want to improve, for example impromptu speeches or speeches for formal occasions such as weddings.

We welcome everyone as members. Past members have included a State Governor, State Premiers, Judges, Federal Senators and MP’s, state politicians and members of local government, professionals, business men and women, public servants, tradespersons, welfare workers, journalists, a film producer, actors, artists and activists. Our members come from every occupation, every race and every culture.

• We meet weekly so you develop your skills sooner

• You’ll be coached by experienced, trained tutors.

• You can practise skills you need in your job or in your personal life. If you have a presentation to do at work, or a speech to give at a wedding or birthday, Rostrum is the perfect place to practice and receive positive and constructive feedback.

• You can choose to develop at whatever pace you choose. If you want to learn quickly, you can. If you what to take it more slowly, that’s not a problem.
• You can practice any specific types of speaking if that is what you need. The program director will roster you for exercises that will move you towards your own goals.
